The Northlands FN community is one of four communities in Manitoba that rely solely on diesel generated electricity. A project to move to more distributed energy sources is now underway. Included in the project is a 280 kW solar array, a biomass district heating system and a lake-based geothermal district heating and cooling system.

The Summit is a historic gathering of 50 international organizations all with a common objective: developing an international action plan for harnessing the power of design to address pressing global challenges.
